Virtual Futures is an investigation into how new spatial computing technologies, which now mediate data through space, have altered our relationship with the built environment and to examine the architect’s role in the development of these new digital horizons. This interdisciplinary seminar challenges students to critically examine the pervasive influence of technology and media culture in contemporary architectural practice through the lens of Mixed Reality (XR) and spatial computing. Rather than celebrating these tools solely for their immersive and representational potential, the course interrogates their role in shaping architectural perception, design processes, and the broader cultural narratives that surround space and the public sphere.
