Cross section taken through the clock tower, plaza, and Holy Mosque revealing the Kaaba. The stepped building on the right represents the new extension of the mosque. Four abandoned storefronts. 1) a dingy, derelict, dark room. A crumbling sign for a sustainable furniture shop. Shelves on the walls, and a hole punched through with the words “CRAWL”. 2) an old cafe. Rotted ceiling panels cover the counter and floor. A bright green and purple “THANK YOU” sign. 3) the remnants of a nail salon. Full nail-polish display intact, dusty. Mani-pedi chairs like beached whales, nasty. Someone has spray-painted in terrible colors. 4) A narrow white room. White tiles, pale green strip. A fallen angel.
