Project Description

Simple things, when repeated, can quickly gain complexity. This project repeats the cube, a simple platonic solid, at different scales in order to fulfill the varied programming needs of a library. What results is a mix of spatial overlaps within a monolith that escapes full comprehension at any given moment. Through narrow passages and between frosted panes of glass, visitors catch glimpses of the whole building - but are never privy to its entirety. A central atrium serves as a gathering space and provides respite from the winding bookcases. Ultimately, the library’s design speaks to individuals seeking a quiet place to learn,
