Project Description

Through a series of exercises, we parsed through the role and form of compressive and tensile structural elements. A web, composed of tensile strands, can support enormous load with a high strength-to-weight ratio. We elaborated upon the tensegrity structural model, described by Buckminster Fuller as “islands of compression in a sea of tension,” to develop a bridge in which tensile and compressive elements were given clear roles.
