Project Description

A void formed by the Lord Overpass and its accompanying residual land currently act as a major boundary between neighborhoods. Our project introduces a series of small-scaled interventions along different “strands”, which give identity to the city and purpose to the existing residual spaces while connecting neighborhoods.

The crux of the project is the Lowell Bowl, which creates a more sequential experience along the strands and delaminates pedestrians from vehicles. Converging at the bowl, a public space preserved from the proposed fill of Thorndike St, the strands expand towards various sites, creating spaces for people to gather, sit and watch, or travel through.
