Project Description

Trains once looped around a rail station platform that existed on the site of New York’s Emergency Management Center. Though the line ceased to exist, the formal idea of the loop subsists as infrastructural nodes of the Brooklyn Bridge. By stretching and coiling the bridge promenade, the received notion of the command center as a hermetic space is challenged and redefined as a topographical construct. Similarly, the new center extends the physical boundaries of the agency. Though the city remains perceivable through the cloud, legibility of the ramps logic is withheld. Ultimately, it is a space to be explored and appropriated.
