Project Description

This project positions itself as a visual, rather than physical, response to New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM): a critique on the inward-focus of the current EM in which the city projects onto it rather than vice versa. By pushing circulation to the exterior, it allows for an inversion of the tower-stair typology, resulting in figural involutions on the facade that provide a 360-degree view of New York City. Lastly, the tectonics of the facade were designed through close study of three-dimensional printing and its toolpaths as an architectural sleight of hand to avoid the registration of floor plate on the exterior.
