Project Description

The New York Emergency Response Center is located in Cadman Plaza, extending from the proposed Brooklyn Bridge berm to the southern center of the Plaza. With two sunken plazas, the building reconnects a disjointed park, transforming it into a technological gateway of community spaces. In moments of crisis, classrooms and co-working spaces close off to form the Emergency Operations Center. The object ‘drilling’ through the center contains all private programs. From this object, the watch command surveils national media through the LED façade, which projects out into the park, through the subway and across the city.
