Project Description

Soundview Pyramid is a seven-story building that celebrates and brings to life the joys of food and cooking. The surrounding passageway, which is half enclosed and half open, connects interior programs and provides a different kind of experience of the building. Each intersecting point of the circulation creates pockets of events, such as cooking classes and ingredient displays with tasting events. The building has a machine-like logistics that represents food pyramid, our body’s digestive processes and food cycle in a spatial context. The logistics of processing food, and moving people are inspired by a ferry schedule. The Soundview Pyramid app uses its digital wireframe to integrate the interior spaces by facilitating visitors with choices of how to move through the building. This project speculates on how we navigate screens by translating such complex circulatory into a spatial order.
