Title

The Yucatan Hacienda: A Resilient Typology

Authors

Project Description

“The Yucatan Hacienda: A Resilient Typology” is a drawing that explores the formal continuity of the hacienda typology throughout almost 500 years. Located around the ring of cenotes created by the Chicxulub meteor, the haciendas have performed an extractive function in the peninsula, while adapting to economic changes. From the cattle industry created by the Spanish conquistadores to the henequen production funded by American investors, haciendas today still represent an extractive yet resilient typology.
