Project Description

This project envisions the intervention of a library space situated between the Fair Haven library and Fair Haven school, serving as a dynamic third space for reading, socializing, and studying for the Fair Haven Community. The library includes a series of interconnected corridors that link the existing structures, enveloping a central core housing data machines. This intermediate corridor space undergoes a transformative experience throughout the day and night. During daylight hours, layered elements provide opacity, discreetly concealing individuals behind screens. As night falls, the structure illuminates like a lantern, casting a glow that accentuates the outlines of people navigating through the library space. The radiant facade is powered by a charged core within the library, it not only serves as the data center but also contributes to the building’s luminosity. Transparent columns support the roof while it harnesses sunlight during the day, creating a self-sustaining power source that fuels the glowing facade during the night.
