Project Description

This project captures the potential of the film industry to reinvigorate Gowanus’s urban fabric by leveraging existing spatial and cultural resources to stimulate a more integrated urban network. Harnessing the historic spirit of film and the urban tessellations of New York City, Gollywood reimagines the remnants of Gowanus’s previous life as a manufacturing hub through the appropriation of dilapidated industrial spaces. By utilizing the vestiges of defunct industries in correspondence with existing film production hot spots, we propose a localized, manifold approach to reanimating Gowanus.
