Project Description

Today, reams of analog data are transitioning into digital storage. Working through themes of dynamism and temporality, this library develops a system for defining space based on the organization of data structures. Analog figure grounds of indoor and outdoor space are digitized through the use of a quadtree, a two dimensional system of recursive subdivision. What results is a dynamic library capable of responsive evolution. An open lattice hosts the library’s programmatic elements while a monolithic pyramid acts as a plinth, raising the library from the ground plane and housing analog artifacts of the past as the transition into the digital age continues.
