Sublime Estate
Project Description
Inspired by the informal roof housing of Hong Kong, this project creates a new world where the ground is no longer at 0’, but at 36 stories in the air. Reorigination of new on top of the old emerges from the stitching together, sidedness and porosity of different façade treatments paired with unique embedded chambers.
Different unit types and solar orientations provide a varied rhythm creating porosity and transparency as one moves around the towers, resulting in a sidedness within each block and across the estate as a whole. The façade obfuscates unique chambers that give each block a unique identity. Exploration and interaction are inherent in the experience of each tower’s unique geometry and materiality, heightening and subverting nature and the artificial at different interior and exterior moments. These manipulations foster a sublimity that hosts a sense of identity and community across this new datum of the estate.
